Honour killing: Man accused of killing pregnant daughter sent to jail

Lahore: An Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday sent a man accused of killing his pregnant daughter near the Lahore High Court on a 14-day judicial remand.

Old Anarkali police produced Muhammad Azeem, Farzana Bibi’s father, before the court saying that they did not need further physical remand.

Khalida Bibi, a sister of the deceased, has filed two applications in Additional District and Sessions Judge Abdul Qayyum’s court – one seeking the registration of a case against Farzana Bibi’s  husband Muhammad Iqbal, 12 nominated accused and 12 unidentified persons while the other petition sought the recovery of her father Muhammad Azeem from “illegal police detention” and demanded that strict action be taken against the police officials who had arrested him.

On the first petition, Judge Abdul Qayyum directed Khalida Bibi to join the investigation and produce evidence in support of her claims.

The second application was dismissed after police said they had mentioned the arrest in the May 30 journal.

Khalida Bibi has claimed that Farzana Bibi had been murdered by her husband.
