A 22-year-old girl was killed allegedly by her brother for marrying a youth from another community against the wishes of her family, police said today.
The body of the girl was recovered yesterday from a pond on Madhotanda road here after which a case under Section 302 (murder) was lodged against her brother who is absconding, police said.
The girl, from Gohaniya Chidiyavad village, had married a youth belonging to another community from a nearby village sometime back, police said.
Apparently under pressure of her family members, the girl had returned home just recently, they added.
Police lodged the case against her brother on the basis of evidence available and statements given by the villagers, a police official said, adding, the body has been sent for post-mortem.
