New Delhi – The Delhi High Court has issued notice to police on a plea of live-in couple seeking protection from the woman’s family, who have allegedly threatened to kill them for “honour”.
Justice Veena Birbal, seeking response from Delhi Police, asked it to file a status report on the issue.
Appearing for Delhi Police, standing counsel Pawan Sharma told the court that the couple has not approached them for protection and the even woman’s family has not filed any missing or kidnapping complaint.
As per the couple’s plea, the woman, a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr town, had told her parents about her love affair with a man residing in Delhi and expressed her desire to marry him.
However, her parents refused to let the marriage go ahead.
