Another day, another honour-killing in city

LAHORE: A man killed his wife allegedly to preserve his honour in Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate police precincts in Sadar Division on Friday.
The police said that Mansha doubted the character of his 42-year-old wife Iqbal Bibi. On Friday, they had an argument over this issue again after which Mansha slit open her throat with a knife. The mother of four bled to death instantly. The police sent the body for an autopsy and registered a case on the complaint of victim’s brother Ghulam Mustafa.
Shot dead: Three persons gunned down a man allegedly over a money dispute in Shadbagh police precincts.
The police said that Hafiz Naeem, his brother Faheem and an unidentified man intercepted Mohammad Saleem near Chowk Nakhuda on Friday morning. They shot at him, killing him on the spot and fled.
The police sent the body for an autopsy and registered a case on the complaint of the victim’s mother Riffat Bibi.
Electric Shock: A man died after receiving electric shock from a fallen pole on Allama Iqbal Road in Garhi Shahu police precincts.
Sheikh Amir, of Cantonment, was on his way on a bike when he accidentally came in contact with live electricity cables connected with the fallen pole. He received a high voltage shock and died instantly. Later, the victim’s family and friends blocked the traffic by placing the body on the road. They chanted slogans against authorities concerned for not removing the fallen pole expeditiously.
