Another girl found hanging from a tree in UP

A young girl was found hanging from a tree at a village in Moradabad district of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. Police have sent the body for post mortem to ascertain the cause of the death.

“We have sent the body for post mortem and waiting for the report to know the cause of the death,” said Gulab Singh, DIG, Moradabad range.
He said a team of senior officials have visited Rajeevpur Milak village and local policemen have been directed to investigate the case from every possible angle.

The DIG , however, said that the girl’s family has not mentioned anyone as suspect in the case. Police have been collecting every possible information to crack the case soon said the DIG.

“It could be a case of honour killing,” said a police official on the condition of anonymity adding “circumstantial evidence do not support the possibility of rape”.

Meanwhile a 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by her paramour, police said on Thursday. The incident came to light when police saw the woman and the accused Ambrish Kanaujia (23) fighting with each other at Lalbagh tempo stand in Sitapur, circle officer SK Singh said.

They were then taken to the city police station where the woman alleged that she was raped by Kanaujia and two others on Wednesday night. Kanaujia had come to drop her at a tempo stand, he said. The accused has been arrested, police said.

Crime against women have shown an upward trend in the state especially after the brutal gangrape and murder of two minor sisters on the intervening night of May 27 and 28 in Katra Sadatganj village of Badaun district.
