Cases filed against forced marriages

PESHAWAR: Parents of two girls in separate incidents on Thursday lodged the first information reports (FIRs) in the police stations, claiming that they were kidnapped for forced marriages, police said.

Khan Gul, a resident of Phando Road, lodged an FIR at the Agha Mir Jani Shah Police Station, claiming that his daughter was kidnapped by two brothers, including Yawar Din and Sadiq Akbar, sons of Awal Din.

Meanwhile, Yasmin, wife of Anjum Iqbal, also lodged an FIR at the Phando Police Station, claiming that her 14-year-old daughter was kidnapped by Muzaffar and Jehangir, sons of Nizamuddin and Zainat, wife of Muzaffar Khan for the purpose of marriage.

In both the FIRs, the parents claimed that the girls were first misled by the kidnapers, who succeeded in taking away from their houses for the purpose of marriage.The police said that they raided the houses of the accused, but they had shifted the girls to undisclosed locations.
