The Khap Panchayats of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana will meet on Wednesday and interact with research scholars to discuss honour killings. The meeting will take place at the historical Meham Chabutara.
Meham Chaubishi, an umbrella organization of all khaps in the state will put forward its viewpoint on killing for honour.
It may be mentioned that Khaps have always been accused of protecting parents who kill their wards for defying traditional norms with regard to marriage.
It has been learnt that research scholars from a number of universities including Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Guwahati University have agreed to participate. The scholars would share stage with Khap leaders and discuss the issue.
