AGRA : In a suspected case of honour killing in Mainpuri, a girl was beaten to death allegedly by her father and three brothers. According to the sources, the girl’s family burnt the body in the field behind their house at Aaunch village.
Police, who reached to the spot on Thursday evening, termed the death a case of suicide. Her partially burnt body was sent for autopsy. However, villagers claimed that the girl and her lover were severely beaten by the girl’s family and they killed the girl later.
Mainpuri SP SK Singh, when contacted, said a FIR had been lodged against four persons in the case. The police have launched a search for them.
The victim, who was in love with a boy of another community boy, was beaten to death by her three brothers and father on Thursday morning. The girl’s brothers also beat up the boy and his family members. The incident came to light after the family of the girl tried to burn her dead body.
According to the reports, boy’s family has fled from the village after hearing about the girl’s death.
