In a case of suspected honour killing, a youth was brutally beaten to death in Faizabad allegedly by the family members of the girl with whom he was having an affair.
The youth identified as Sarvjeet (24) died in district hospital, police said.
The incident took place in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday in Raipur village under Cantonment police station area.
Sarvjeet had gone to meet the girl, but when he entered the house her family members caught him and tied him with a tree outside the house and thrashed him, villagers told police.
As the village Pradhan got the information he informed police about the incident and the youth was taken to district hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Faizabad SP City R A Gautam said that three persons have been arrested in this regard and investigation is on.
